DOMESTIC WORKERS CITY COORDINATORS MEET
The 16 city level Coordinators along with the MSI partner organisations held a two days meeting on 13 – 14 December to review the progress of identification, mobilization and collectivisation of domestic workers in their respective towns during the year. The coordinators came from Vijayawada, Guntur, Vizianagaram, Rajam, Bhubaneshwar, Sambalpur,Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal, Chaderghat, Uppal, Osmania Campus, Patancheru, Sangareddy. Using power points and other tools, the coordinators evaluated the key programs. The occasion was also used to build individual capacities for motivation and group building. The two days meeting concluded with the annual Christmas celebrations.
Montfort Social Institute has been in the process of organising domestic workers for the last four years. The domestic Workers Union Telangana State has been registered as a trade union thanks to the efforts of MSI. A similar union is to be registered in Andhra Pradesh.
