Bro. Varghese Theckanath , Director of Montfort Social Institute, attended National Stakeholders Meeting on National Policy on Domestic Workers on 11 July 2017 at the Habitat Centre, New Delhi organised by the Union Ministry for Labour and the ILO. The Meeting chaired by Mr. Rajit Punhani, Director General Labour Welfare, was attended by officers from the State governments, Trade Union representatives, academicians and representatives of Domestic Workers. The draft Policy has been under discussion since 2010, but has not been still adopted, because of the mind set of employers that run across the society. It was resolved at the meeting that a time frame for adoption of the Policy and Law are will be followed.
